The history of the Haute Horlogerie brand “Lange & Cie”, its original name, can be traced back to 1845 when it was established by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte. This was a village located amongst mountains having an abundance of metal ore close to Dresden, in the German state of Saxony. When the founder’s son, Richard, joined the main branch, the brand’s name was changed to “A. Lange and Sohne”.
The house is renowned for the manufacture of futuristic watches thanks to the ingenuity of Ferdinand. A specific watch product being the little watch for women having an anchor and displaying seconds. Over time, the A. Lange and Sohne superb timepiece creations have successfully acquired worldwide recognition. At present, its luxury watch products, with ultra-modern technology and hereditary expertise, have gained a place in the history of Haute Horlogerie.

In 1990, when the Berlin Wall was abolished, A. Lange and Sohne re-emerged in full force and launched new models; giving evidence of their determination to gain topmost prominence once again.
