Marret Frères: A Tradition of Excellence

At the heart of Paris, near Place Vendôme, 352 Rue Saint-Honoré houses one of the oldest and most respected jewelry houses: Marret Frères. This house, a pioneer in the field of silversmithing, has preserved the elegance and refinement of French jewelry traditions. At the beginning of the 20th century, Marret Frères stood out at the 1889 Exposition Universelle with a noteworthy display, showcasing bold innovations and exceptional creations.

In a historic and sumptuous setting, Marret Frères’ workshops produced jewelry pieces that have been celebrated with numerous awards, including the Grand Prix in 1900. These creations, exhibiting timeless elegance, were magnificently highlighted by 17th-century woodwork and refined decor, offering a genuine journey into the past.

Jacques Bancelin: The Legacy Continued

In 1912, the House of Marret Frères was taken over by Jacques Bancelin, who continued the work of his predecessors with a new vision. Located at 352 Rue Saint-Honoré, the house evolved under Bancelin’s direction, then moved in 1914 to 103 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Jacques Bancelin, staying true to the spirit of Marret Frères, preserved traditions while incorporating modern elements into his creations.

Jacques Bancelin’s story is also marked by a complex episode during World War I. Actress Suzy Depsy, connected to Bancelin, was involved in a spy affair, adding a dramatic dimension to the house's reputation. Nevertheless, Bancelin's artisanal excellence continued to shine despite these challenges.

In 1942, the Jacques Bancelin house was taken over by Mellerio, a prestigious name in the world of jewelry, thus continuing the tradition of luxury and quality.
