Erté, a Genius of Art and Design

Romain de Tirtoff, known by the pseudonym Erté, was born in 1892 into a Russian aristocratic family. From a young age, he was captivated by fashion, particularly under the influence of his mother. At 15, he left Russia for Paris, determined to prove himself in the artistic world.

Erté began his career in sculpture in the Art Nouveau style. At 20, he ventured into design, creating stage costumes and decorations for renowned companies and personalities. This experience marked the beginning of his exceptional career.

Erté Jewelry: Between Sculpture and Design

In 1960, Erté fully dedicated himself to sculpture. His works, crafted from wood, aluminum, copper, and iron, are beautifully painted and met with great success at exhibitions. Later, he turned to platinum-finished bronze sculptures and began creating jewelry.

In the 1980s, while continuing his work as a sculptor and graphic designer, Erté launched into luxury jewelry design. His pieces were enthusiastically received and are renowned for their elegance and refinement. His work, "Art to Wear: The Complete Jewelry," showcases his creations and manufacturing techniques with stunning color photographs.
