Favre-Leuba, a Prestigious History Since 1737
The story of Favre-Leuba begins in 1737 in Locle, a charming village nestled in the Swiss Jura mountains. Abraham Favre, with the unwavering support of his family, founded what would become one of Switzerland's greatest watchmaking houses. His early creations captivated wealthy dignitaries, and soon the reputation of the house transcended Swiss borders. The values of boldness, authenticity, and inventiveness, passed down through generations, continue to drive the Favre-Leuba house.
The Birth of the Favre-Leuba Brand
In 1814, Abraham's great-grandson, Henri-Auguste Favre, partnered with Auguste Leuba, a watchmaker from Buttes in Val-de-Travers. This collaboration marked the creation of the Favre-Leuba brand. By the 19th and early 20th centuries, the company had conquered numerous international markets, from North and South America to Asia, the Middle East, and of course, Europe. In 2011, the house was acquired by the Tata Group, an Indian conglomerate now also active in watch manufacturing.
