Jean Vendôme, a Visionary Creator
Jean Tuhdarian, known as Jean Vendôme, was born in Lyon in 1930. After an apprenticeship with his uncle Der and extensive studies in gemology in Paris, he opened his first workshop in 1948 at 2 Rue Feutrier. His beginnings in jewelry saw him fulfilling orders for the great houses of the time.
In 1950, he presented his first jewelry collection, which achieved resounding success in the contemporary jewelry scene. Jean Vendôme participated in prestigious exhibitions such as “The Japanese Pearl” at the Palais d'Orsay in 1966 and the Société des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD) at the Grand Palais. In 1969, he was awarded the Salon Prize from the French School at the Museum of Modern Art.
Recognized Works of Art
Jean Vendôme's creations, inspired by postcards, travels, and a unique baroque style, earned him several distinctions. The house received the silver medal from the Arts, Sciences, and Letters of the City of Paris, the first prize for Contemporary Jewelry and Designers, as well as the laurel at the New York International Exhibition.
In 1980, his sons Thierry and Raphaël joined the business. Today, Thierry Vendôme leads the house, perpetuating his father's legacy.
Modern, Decorative, and Figurative Jewelry
Jean Vendôme is known for his mastery of goldsmithing techniques and innovative use of materials, combining abstract elements like water and fire. His collections, such as “Pépite,” “Survol,” “Nocturne et Boréale,” and “Cosmos,” feature over 300,000 unique pieces of jewelry.
The creations include necklaces, rings, earrings, and transformable pieces, such as ring-bracelets or pendant rings. Set with fine or precious stones, each piece is a work of art, combining sleek design with functionality.
