Stationery store founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John P. Young under the name Tiffany & Young in New York, the store later diversified with a line of jewelry and goldsmithing. In 1853, the company became Tiffany & Co. Its most famous store on Fifth Avenue in New York, open since 1937, has become legendary thanks to the film “Breakfast at Tiffany's” in which the delicate Audrey Hepburn plays the leading role.
Renowned artists and designers in collaboration with Tiffany.
Tiffany & Co works in collaboration with different designers to this day, such as Edward C. Moore who draws his inspiration from Japonism, Jean Schlumberger whose collaboration in 1956 is placed under the sign of nature: his “Sea Creature” is striking in its dynamism, as for the superb composition “Stars and Moons” entirely set with diamonds, it takes us on a journey directly into space. Since 1974, Elsa Peretti has revolutionized silver jewelry to which she gives a prominent place. Simple and elegant lines are her signature, which can also be found in the “Open Heart” or “Manchette Bone” collections. Her jewelry perfectly reflects her motto according to which “style must be simple”. Another celebrity, Paloma Picasso collaborated with the brand in 1980, bringing a line sometimes imbued with softness (the “Olive Leaf” or “Venezia” collections testify to this), or very energetic as illustrated by her “Graffiti”.
Recently, Tiffany creations were seen on the sublime Carey Mulligan in “The Great Gatsby”, perfect reproductions of the head jewelry and bracelets of the Roaring Twenties.
