Tiffany's Art Deco Necklace Set with Huge Diamond to Discover in 2022

The most extraordinary diamonds on the planet have a name. The Hope Diamond, the Cullinan, and the Koh-i-Noor are among these legendary stones due to their size and purity. At Tiffany's, the Tiffany Diamond has been there since 1887. The American house has just acquired another exceptional 80-carat diamond. And unlike the Tiffany diamond, which is jealously guarded by the house, this one will be sold via a magnificent Art Deco-inspired necklace.

A new exceptional diamond for Tiffany's

80 carats. D color. Perfect structure. This exceptional diamond will be the largest ever sold by Tiffany's and Co. The Art Deco necklace created with it will also be the most expensive piece of jewelry in the American house's history. The name of this Tiffany necklace, or its price, is still unknown. But it is expected to easily exceed 10 million dollars.

This massive stone was acquired from a mine in Botswana. Tiffany's artistic director, Reed Krakoff, chose to draw inspiration from an antique necklace that was created for the 1939 World's Fair. This one featured a gigantic 200-carat aquamarine adorned with a myriad of diamonds (429). This necklace will be reinterpreted to accommodate this 80-carat diamond.

It will be officially presented next year, during the inauguration of Tiffany's renovated store on 5th Avenue in New York. So, patience will be required. But it should be rewarded.

"The incredible rarity of this diamond and its origin from Botswana not only reflect Tiffany's history as a house specializing in high jewelry. But also our leadership in diamond traceability," said Krakoff. "The recreation of a necklace inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 1939 World's Fair is a tribute to our status as a pioneer in American luxury jewelry."

A diamond worthy of the most beautiful stones

Throughout its 183-year history, Tiffany's and Co. has seen some of the world's most famous diamonds pass through its hands. Charles Lewis Tiffany was the first to be nicknamed the King of Diamonds (a title later taken by Harry Winston). Notably, he bought a large number of diamonds belonging to aristocrats fleeing after the abdication of King Louis-Philippe in 1848. At a sale of French crown jewels in 1887, he left with 24 of the 69 lots for sale. Empress Eugénie's diamond riviere necklaces were among them. These jewels were then acquired by Madame Pulitzer and Caroline Astor.

Today, the origin of Tiffany diamond prestige comes from other factors. They are sourced from mines that support local communities and adhere to strict ethical and environmental standards.
