Omega

The Origin of Omega

Founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Louis Brandt, the OMEGA manufacture is one of the most iconic names in luxury watchmaking. At just 23 years old, Louis Brandt opened his first sales counter and began marketing watches under his own name. Under the leadership of his heirs, Louis-Paul and César Brandt, the brand experienced significant expansion, moving to Biel in 1880, marking the beginning of a horological legend.

Omega Watches: True Treasures

Omega watches are more than just timepieces; they are considered true works of art. Their reputation transcends borders, captivating athletes, actors, fashionistas, and collectors alike. Renowned ambassadors such as Michael Schumacher, Ellen MacArthur, and Nicole Kidman help maintain and perpetuate the Omega legend.

  • 1894: Creation of the Omega 19-line caliber, a major innovation.
  • 1909: Launch of the first sports timing, paving the way for numerous awards.
  • 1930: Merger with Tissot to form SSIH (Swiss Society for the Watch Industry), followed by the integration of Lemania.
  • 1942: Introduction of the first automatic watches.
  • 1945: The end of World War II marks a turning point for Omega with the adoption of the Seamaster and Speedmaster models by NASA as the official chronometer. The Omega De Ville line also attracts collectors and high society.
