Chopard, the Watchmaking Brand with Happy Diamonds

Chopard was founded by the remarkable Swiss designer, Louis Ulysse Chopard, renowned for the creation of high precision watches in 1860. His ingenuity as a watchmaker enhanced his success and at the young age of 24 years, he was recognized as a leading artisan in watchmaking worldwide. Chopard’s artistry with innovative designs garnered the attention of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.

In the 1940s, his grandson launched Chopard modern designed watches all over the world with enhanced technical features to facilitate the racing world. The brand was family-owned until 1963 when it was bought by Karl Scheufele III; a member of a German watchmaking dynasty. This move served to strengthen the house, establishing the Chopard name in both jewelry and watchmaking.

Chopard: high jewelry and diamonds

Chopard’s Happy Diamonds collection was launched in 1976 and has never ceased to fascinate everyone throughout the years. Happy Diamonds are a lasting and unique Chopard design. The idea emerged when a designer at Chopard, Ronald Kurowski, observed sunbeams moving across a waterfall. He gained inspiration from this view, creating a design that resembled drops of water reflecting the daylight; glittering with rainbow colors. The design depicts diamonds twirling freely between two crystals of sapphire; shining with brilliance and looking absolutely awesome. Happy Diamonds became an iconic piece and, eventually, won the illustrious Golden Rose of Baden-Baden in 1976.

Today, the brand has an international reputation for awesome creations of high-end jewelry and watches. Chopard watches and jewelry will continue to dominate the world with its love for variations in the combination of aesthetics and originality.

Whenever we are fortunate enough to get our hands on a used Chopard jewelry piece, we ensure it undergoes an authentication check with the original manufacturers. This is followed by a restoration procedure, in our workshop and then, it is finally sold in a new condition at the most reasonable price; this is normally at a 40 to 50% discount of the original purchase price.
