Sandoz, the Tale of a Lineage of Jewelers

The brand was founded in 1861 by Gustave Sandoz (1836-1891) of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He belonged to a long line of clockmakers and, despite maintaining this tradition, he took up jewelry making as well. The Maison Gustave Sandoz was family-owned and managed by three successive generations; all of whom were famous and active jewelers in their own times.

The founder’s son, Gustave-Roger (1867-1942) took control in 1891 and enhanced the companies reputation further; specifically for their creations in gold and gem-set pieces. Eventually, Gérard Sandoz (1902-1995), the founder’s grandson, joined his father in 1920 and led the brand to acquire a prominent place in the jewelry world.

In 1925, the time of the Exposition Internationale des Art Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, Gérard was acquiring much recognition for his daring, geometric designs supporting cubism; truly adored by fans of luxury jewelry. The exquisite creations of Sandoz are on display at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. Despite his profession as a jeweler flourishing, Gérard Sandoz opted to leave and join the cinema, in 1934.

Sandoz jewelry both classical and modern

Sandoz jewelry is distinguished by its geometric shapes; belonging to the brand’s heritage influenced by the artistic principles, abstract and scriptural designs, of Gustave-Roger Sandoz. The special feature of Sandoz jewelry is that it is made with unusual materials like metal, ebony, crystal or lacquer. The final jewelry products are magnificent creations of uncommon artistry. Sandoz jewelry is heavy and resplendent; sometimes giving off an aura of masculinity. Nonetheless, the jewelry is sure to evoke strong feelings of freedom in the women wearing it.

The Sandoz brand also manufactures high-precision watches. Outstanding features of the Sandoz watch brand include their exquisite shape, Swiss movements and the beautiful dials made in gold, enamel, etc.
