The story of De Beers can be traced back to the 19th century. In the year 1880, in a part of South Africa known as Kimberly, Cecil Rhodes and Charles Rudd came together to establish what would later become a grand diamond house, De Beers. The house was totally engrossed in controlling the diamond market until the 1960s. History took a major turn for De Beers with the coming of the solitaire ring. In 2001, the LVMH De Beers Diamond Jewelers was established at Old Bond Street in London. Its story of success being mainly focused on the solitaire ring.
De Beers’ perfect slogan: A Diamond is Forever
The brand’s President in the 1940s used the huge diamond-encrusted engagement ring in its advertising campaign; making a direct hit at female hearts. The ring symbolized everlasting love, the solitaire, with its mesmerizing diamond, first took the United States by storm, followed by Japan and then the rest of the world.
Each year brings forth a sense of excitement as to what the brand’s latest collections will be. From the time of the DB Classic, De Beers’ priceless solitaire, all of the brand’s signed engagement rings are an enormous success. Jewelry pieces like the Annabel, a beautiful V solitaire and Talisman, Enchanted Lotus and Adonis Rose collections pay homage to the world’s fashionable ladies who are addicts of designer jewelry.
De Beers gains its inspiration from the natural world as is seen from its introduction of the highly feminine Enchanted Lotus collection. This collection with its charming lotus flower gives off an aura of eternal beauty. The Adonis Rose collection with its central solitaire diamond emits a brilliance akin to that of a flower moving towards light; creating a unique grace of its own. Adonis Rose was named after the love story of Adonis and Aphrodite.
The magnificence and sophistication of De Beers jewelry are apparent in the outstanding craftsmanship of the brand; jewelry pieces that are true works of art. In 2009, the launching of the stunning ring, The Promise, gave the house its permanent role of being considered the house of high-end jewelry for women.
