Maison Puiforcat, a Born Artisan

The Maison Puiforcat is situated at 16, rue Chapon, within the third arrondissement of Paris, the original Puiforcat home was where Émile, the brand’s founder, worked as a cutler. He, together with his cousins, Jean-Baptiste Fuchs and Félix Armand Puiforcat were engaged in the creation of extraordinary objects there. The Maison owes most of its fame to the talent of Jean Puiforcat, a fourth-generation family member, a goldsmith and artisan of contemporary and decorative art objects. The Puiforcat House made history and, a century later, was established as a company in the innovative circle of modern silverwork.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, being motivated by his father, Louis-Victor Puiforcat, Jean successfully led the company towards luxury creations. It was firmly established in the silversmith’s trade by the end of the 19th century; re-making 18th-century masterpieces of its collections. Exquisite pieces that can be seen today at the Louvre Museum, in Paris. In 1920, Jean Puiforcat was honorably named a master silversmith. A name he rightly deserved for boosting the brand in the 1920s; bringing harmony and balance to the designs, adding a new touch to the original classical creations.
